John,

Welcome to the latest edition of Emily’s Notes — updates from Washington’s 6th and Washington, D.C.!

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

• Fighting for our community – I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Equality Caucus to re-introduce the Equality Act, landmark legislation that would guarantee nationwide protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in housing, employment, education, public accommodations, and more.

• Environmental justice – On Puget Sound Day, Rep. Marilyn Strickland and I announced the re-launch of the Puget Sound Recovery Caucus. I’m proud and excited to protect and restore one of our region’s most treasured and vital ecosystems.

Knocking doors – I spent some of my time back in the district canvassing for Deb K for State Senate, because we need strong, values-rooted leaders like her more than ever. And, talking to neighbors about engaging in the democratic process is good for the soul! I posted a video on Instagram sharing more about my recent work in Congress and why I’m committed to supporting local leaders like Deb. Take a look: [[link removed]]

• Latino Talks – I was honored to attend Latino Victory’s Latino Talks 2025 event and accept the First Award. Representing our community in Congress is a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our collective progress and power.

I’ve also been working day and night to fight back against House Republicans’ deeply flawed budget proposal and protect programs like SNAP and Medicaid from devastating cuts – but this fight does not end with this bill.

Team Emily has also been hard at work supporting our adopted swing district, sending support and strategizing how we can most effectively support Joanna Mendoza flip AZ-06.

The Republican majority in the House is one of the smallest in history. If we can peel off a handful of Republicans and help Democrats like Joanna win, we can stop bad MAGA bills in their tracks.

We have some tough fights on the horizon, and I’m hoping you’ll face them with me. There’s no time to lose – our work to flip the House has already begun. Can you make a donation of $5, $25, or any amount to fuel our organizing, both inside and outside of Capitol Hill? [[link removed]]
