House lawmakers just took a major step toward deregulating suppressors by passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which includes Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act, a provision that would remove suppressors from the NFA and eliminate the $200 transfer tax entirely.
But there’s a catch. Before anything becomes law, the bill must clear a critical hurdle in the Senate: the Byrd Rule.
