This is a five-alarm fire …

The House of Representatives just passed H.R. 1 ( [link removed] ) — a cruel and reckless bill that puts America’s seniors squarely on the chopping block.

Now it heads to the Senate. And unless we stop it, millions of older Americans could pay the price.

H.R. 1 represents the worst of all worlds:

Seniors who wish to remain in their homes and communities will likely be forced to seek care in nursing homes instead, because the deep cuts to Medicaid will leave many states with no choice but to cut or even eliminate their programs supporting Home and Community Based Services (HCBS).

This bill offers a staggering giveaway to millionaires, billionaires and large, profitable corporations — while millions of older Americans continue to struggle to afford their housing, food and prescription drug costs.

While it’s being billed as “fiscal responsibility” by GOP leaders and President Trump, H.R. 1 is a “deficit reduction” scam that will actually add trillions to the national debt.

If this bill becomes law, millions of older Americans will immediately be cut off from basic health care and access to critical supportive services that help them age with dignity — all so the wealthiest Americans can pocket more money they don’t need.

We must stop this in the Senate. Now.

The National Committee is turning up the pressure — appearing in national media to expose the truth about H.R. 1 … writing op-eds in local and national newspapers to inform and mobilize the public … equipping our dedicated grassroots supporters with the facts and tools they need to speak out … and taking your message directly to lawmakers in Washington.
