John, I got into politics to alleviate suffering. This GOP budget bill will only make working Americans suffer, and the rich even richer.
I'm going to fight it with everything I've got.
House Republicans voted to pass a budget bill that makes steep cuts to food assistance and Medicaid, and puts Medicare at risk — showing the nation just how dangerously out-of-touch their party is. These cuts would put rural hospitals at risk of immediate closure, including many of Vermont’s hospitals.
For me, this bill crosses a moral line.
Working families across the country are struggling to make ends meet. Now, millions of people are at risk of losing their health care and food assistance so Republicans can deliver tax relief for the wealthiest among us. They’re not even pretending to care about working people anymore.
This bill is cruel, which is why House Democrats stopped it from moving forward. I’ll always fight for what matters most in Congress — protecting our shared values and making life easier for working families.
Your grassroots support helps show that there’s a movement of people who are sick of Republicans’ cruelty. Please help us send that message loud and clear by chipping in toward our May fundraising goal before Saturday’s deadline: [[link removed]]

I’ll always side with Vermonters, and this bill is a clear and present threat to their best interests. I’m standing firm against it, and I refuse to let Trump and his cronies rig the economy and this budget against working people.
Thank you.
