Submit your intentions, 9 Holy Masses, May 30 - June 7

Dear Friend,
The words of Pope Benedict XVI from
2009 are even more relevant now:
“In our days, when in vast areas of
the world the faith is in danger of dying out like a flame which no
longer has fuel, the overriding priority is to make God present in
this world and to show men and women the way to God. Not just any god,
but the God who spoke on Sinai; to that God whose face we recognize in
a love which presses "to the end" (cf. Jn 13:1) – in Jesus Christ, crucified and risen. The real problem
at this moment of our history is that God is disappearing from the
human horizon, and, with the dimming of the light which comes from
God, humanity is losing its bearings, with increasingly evident
destructive effects.”
Regional wars, as well as the
senseless violence and brutal killings around the world have been
horrific. Many people are speaking out, trying to promote peace and
promise to change things. However, it is the third person of the Holy
Trinity that creates real change through the resurgence and renewal of
hearts. Let that begin with us! Don’t we all need a powerful "jolt" or
"reinvigoration" of the Spirit? We as Catholics profess that the Holy
Spirit is the "giver of life."
Our God is a generous God, never
ceasing to pour grace upon His people when they ask. Since the world
today is so desperately in need of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, let
us band together to pray this novena to the Holy Spirit, asking Him to
pour His gifts out upon us.
The first novena ever prayed was
when Our Lady and the twelve apostles prayed for nine days in the
upper room, waiting for Our Lord to send the Holy Spirit. The results
were dramatic. On Pentecost Sunday, St. Peter, through the gifts of
the Holy Spirit, converted 3,000 souls to Christ.
Now, we call on the same Spirit to
intercede for us today. I ask you to join me in
a Novena to the Holy Spirit from May 30 until June 7. Nine Holy Masses
will also be offered on those same days, so please submit your
intentions and sign up to receive the novena each day:
The Holy Spirit is the “Divine
Force” that changes the world and makes us truly alive.
Yours in the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
