Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional District, and our country as a whole:

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and gratitude towards our nation's heroes. We should never forget those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

"I go to the front for Texas and the Stars and Stripes, knowing full well I may not return. If I fall, tell my folks in San Antonio I died proud, defending the freedom we hold dear.” — An anonymous Texas soldier’s letter, archived in the Texas Military Forces Museum in Austin.

Team Roy attended the Kerr County Memorial Day Ceremony. Thank you to the organizers for facilitating this beautiful tribute for the public, including family and friends, to pay respects towards fallen Texans.

The One Big Beautiful Act Advances

After deliberation with many colleagues, staff at the White House and President Trump, I voted yes on H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Months ago, I worked to ensure that any tax cuts or extensions would be connected to an equal or greater amount of spending cuts to force fiscal discipline. The good news is that the bill technically held true to that framework by yielding modest deficit reduction over a 10-year budget window. Importantly, it does this by cutting spending $1.5 trillion over 10 years, reforming programs like Medicaid and SNAP with work requirements, and improving healthcare freedom by expanding health savings accounts to allow use with Direct Primary Care.

Some of the victories I was able to achieve with my colleagues:

- Boosted Deficit Reduction 400% from $300 Billion to $1.5 trillion.

-  Fully funded our defense to ensure that we are strong on national security.

- Medicaid Work Requirements in 2026, not 2029.

- Major Green New Deal Subsidies eliminated, and others cut back dramatically requiring projects be operational before Trump leaves office.

- Protects Seniors by equalizing Medicaid Reimbursement Rates.

- Illegal Aliens Removed from Medicaid, Welfare Programs and no longer eligible for tax subsidies.

- No Medicaid Money for Sex Change Operations on both adults and children.

- Taxation and Regulation of Firearm Suppressors Ended.

To be clear, I didn’t vote for the bill without significant reservations.

For example, in classic Washington fashion, the bill produces sizable deficits in the first 5 years while achieving “savings” in the future, which means we’ve got to bring forward more savings than we already fought for. And as with most major bills in Washington, this bill was rushed, mashed together, and crammed through the House without sufficient time to review every item carefully. We should do better.

The Medicaid money laundering scam was not reformed sufficiently, and far too many of the new green scam subsidies continue to operate. And inexplicably, we funded high-tax state jurisdictions with a $350 billion tax deduction for their “SALT” tax deductions – something I strongly oppose.

But even though I supported this bill out of the House, this bill needs massive improvements if we are to make a dent in our deficit or to change the trajectory of this country.

I stand ready to work with my colleagues in the Senate to continue to get this bill right before sending it to the President’s desk.

Pay Texas Back

For four years, Texans stood in the breach of the worst border crisis in recent American history. The dereliction of duty by the previous administration led to an invasion of lawlessness, crime, danger, and drugs, putting Texans, and every American in harm's way.

That is why I am proud that H.R.1 - that recently passed the House - included a provision to pay Texas back for defending our borders when the federal government would not. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz are leading the effort in the Senate to ensure that a similar provision is included in the final version of the bill.

San Antonio ICE Operation

Last week, San Antonio ICE arrested nearly 300 illegal aliens, 178 with criminal records, in the San Antonio area. I would like to thank our brave men and women of ICE for removing dangerous actors from TX-21 communities and across Texas.

Forever 15 Project

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting with Forever 15 Project Co-founder Brandon Dunn to discuss fentanyl awareness in TX-21 communities and across Texas.

My office is grateful for Forever 15 educating young minds about the dangers of fentanyl, saving countless lives along the way.
