Hey, my friend. It’s Ruben.

I am writing to let you know that I am going to be taking some time off from the Senate soon.

To be clear, it's not a bad thing.

In the middle of my campaign for Senate, my wife Sydney gave birth to our daughter, Isla. I took some time off the campaign trail then, because you never get these early moments back. Now, Sydney and I are expecting our second child together. Just like last time, I am committed to being a father and a husband first in these first few weeks. I want to make the most of it.

Now, the timing is not ideal. We’ve got a monthly deadline coming up on May 31st, and then we go straight into an FEC month in June — right when I’ll be going on parental leave. But I am going to be there for my wife and our growing family.

I made that decision hoping you'd help me close the gap. That you'd replace the fundraising calls I can't make with donations made in response to emails like this one.

This is a magical time for my family, but it's also an important week for our campaign. And I am hoping you'll help.
