When Montana Democrats flipped twelve state legislature seats blue last year, it sent an unmistakable message that families were fed up with the status quo in Helena.

Listen, some pundits believed that being in the minority in both houses of the legislature would be a death sentence for our Democratic priorities. But here in Montana, Democrats didn’t give up.

We opened dialogue, we found common ground, and we created a working majority of lawmakers committed to common sense, not blind partisanship. And we never compromised on our values.

In so many other Republican-led states, public education and affordable health care are on the chopping block.

But thanks to the efforts of Montana Democrats, we gave public school teachers a $100 million pay raise and renewed Medicaid expansion for tens of thousands of Montanans.

Across the country, Republicans and Democrats alike are sick and tired of extremism and gridlock. So here in Montana, Democrats did something different — and now, our public schools are stronger, our health care is protected, and far-right extremists are in the minority.
