Dear Friend, |
The humble heat pump is a simple appliance that’s quietly cleaning up pollution from the air in our homes while delivering next-level coziness. |
While the federal government tries to drag us back to an era where cities choked on smoke and rivers caught on fire, we will forge ahead. Here at Earthjustice, that means supporting ambitious state and city policies that help get heat pumps into more homes and buildings — and fending off lobbying efforts by utilities and gas companies to keep communities reliant on old, polluting technology. |
Instead of producing heat by burning gas or other fossil fuels, these state-of-the-art machines use electricity to move heat from inside or outside buildings, making them two to four times more efficient than combustion technologies like gas furnaces or water heaters. Using this incredible technology, heat pumps can warm and cool our spaces. |
Another added bonus? Heat pumps don’t release health-harming pollution into the air. By getting more heat pumps in homes across the country, we can save thousands of lives. Swapping out polluting furnaces, water heaters, and dryers for heat pumps in the U.S. would deliver the air quality equivalent of taking 40 million gas-powered cars off our roads. |
Have you installed a heat pump in your home? Share your heat pump story! |
|
Sincerely,
The Team at Earthjustice |
