Aloha,
As I step down as State Chair, I want to express my gratitude to each of you who stood with me, encouraged our efforts, volunteered your time, and helped move this party forward during one of its most critical periods. It has been a journey to serve in this capacity.
When I assumed this position on September 9, 2023, the party was facing significant financial and organizational challenges. With hard work and persistence, we were able to turn things around. Together, we eliminated burdensome debt, restored order to our operations, sold an underutilized building over full asking price, paid back taxes, and cleared long-overdue bills. We revived our party through grassroots engagement, hosted events, and laid the groundwork for future success.
Even through many challenges, we sill perserveered. And I will continue to fight for what is right, and follow through with the items that I found concerning that comprimise the integrity of the party and those who support the Republic, the party and its values.
Now, as we enter a new chapter, I want to assure you that a transition process has been outlined to ensure the incoming officers receive all necessary files, access, and institutional knowledge. I am making an attempt to connect with the new Chair, Art Hanneman, and once we are in communication, the formal transition will begin. I’ve already prepared a checklist to help facilitate a smooth handoff.
Per our bylaws, I will continue to serve in an advisory capacity as the Immediate Past Chair. While I will no longer be at the helm, I will still be actively involved in our shared mission.
I have been asked to participate in other projects aimed at strengthening our America First base, from local efforts here in Hawai‘i to initiatives with a broader national reach. I look forward to sharing those involvments and seeing the fruits of the labor of all those involved, and we should be focusing on Hawaii and America first.
We’ve brought this party to a healthier place than where we found it. It is my sincere hope that the new leadership team honors that foundation, leads with dignity and transparency, and continues to build from the grassroots up. The momentum we created doesn’t belong to one person, it belongs to the people of this party and the principles we stand for.
Thank you for the privilege to lead, to serve, and to grow with you. I’ll still be here…fighting for our values, transparency, accountability, supporting our communities, and working to ensure that conservative voices in Hawai‘i are heard and respected.
With gratitude and resolve,
Tamara McKay
