I have 15 minutes free in my schedule while I drink my coffee, and I wanted to reach out because I’ve been reflecting on how far we’ve come since I was elected to Congress in 2020.

My journey to serving my community in Congress goes way back, John. You see, my dad served in the Indiana General Assembly for over 40 years, and I grew up watching him dedicate his life to the people of Northwest Indiana. I was proud to go door-to-door with him to drop campaign literature and hear about the impact a committed public servant could have on our community.

My dad inspired me to run for office, to carry on a legacy of service and fight for working families in our community.

When I was elected to Congress, I came to Washington ready to work with anyone to get the job done for the people we were elected to serve. But the current Republican majority in Congress has only brought chaos and dysfunction, not solutions for the American people. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t frustrated, John. But it’s because of my frustration that I refuse to give up.

We’re strongest when we work together. Although delivering impactful results for the residents of Northwest Indiana is sometimes an uphill battle, I am so proud of the foundation we’ve built.
