West Olive, MI – Ottawa County Veterans Services is proud to announce the groundbreaking of the county’s first-ever dedicated facility designed to honor and serve local Veterans. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at 12120 Fillmore Street, West Olive, MI 49460.
This groundbreaking marks a significant milestone in Ottawa County’s ongoing efforts to enhance the level of care and support provided to Veterans. The facility will serve as a centralized, purpose-built space focused on fostering connection, providing resources, and creating an environment that reflects the community’s appreciation for those who have served.
“This facility represents our commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for Ottawa County’s Veterans,” said Jason Schenkel, Director of Veterans Services. “It’s a meaningful step forward in how we connect Veterans with the resources and respect they deserve.”
This initiative represents a deliberate effort by Ottawa County Veterans Services to go beyond the construction of a physical facility. It serves as a foundational step in strengthening the broader network of support for Veterans across the region. The facility’s design and overarching vision are rooted in a commitment to accessibility, dignity, and purposeful engagement with the Veteran community.
