Hi John,
On behalf of our team at Ruth’s List, Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
My name is Jadyn, and I am a proud Filipina-American woman serving as the Development Director at Ruth’s List Florida. As a lifelong Floridian raised by a family of immigrants and first-generation Americans, it has always been a passion of mine to increase representation for members of the AAPI and immigrant communities in our state and local government.
Did you know that today, there are zero Asian American or Pacific Islander women elected to office in our state legislature? Out of the 160 legislators in Tallahassee this year, 0% claim AAPI heritage.
Representation matters, and that’s why our work at Ruth’s List is so important. Each day, we work to uplift pro-choice women running for office in our home state. It is so meaningful for me to contribute to these efforts, especially for women of color, immigrants, and others who come from diverse backgrounds (like me!).
The main focus of my role at Ruth’s List can be summarized simply: expanding our resources and getting pro-choice women what they need to win at the ballot box. That’s why today, I’m asking you to become a member at Ruth’s List for just $25 per month in honor of AAPI Heritage Month.
Recurring, “small-dollar” donations are my favorite kind of contribution. They exemplify that small things lead to bigger things. Every four members we recruit = another woman candidate that we have the resources to recruit, train, and endorse. The more women that we have the capacity to help, the greater chances we have of finding and electing an AAPI woman like me.
