Mental Health Awareness Month: What Support Really Means

Mental health support can look like a lot of things: listening without judgment, respecting someone's identity, or simply showing up when it counts. For LGBTQ+ young people, that kind of care is more than kindness—it can be life-saving.

At The Trevor Project, we’re committed to making sure every LGBTQ+ young person feels supported—not just during Mental Health Awareness Month, but every day. And sometimes, the best way to learn how to support someone is to listen to those who do it every day.

That’s why we’re excited to share this video interview, where Rebecca Minor, a licensed therapist, talks about what affirming support really looks like—and why it matters so much.

🗣 Help Us Hear from More LGBTQ+ Young People

LGBTQ+ young people deserve to be heard—and we're gathering insights to better understand their mental health experiences. If you know someone 13-24 who identifies as LGBTQ+, please consider sharing our confidential survey with them.

Their input can help shape a more supportive future—and as a thank you, participants can opt into a drawing for a chance to receive one of 100 $50 gift cards.
