The United Auto Workers (UAW) is a fierce fighting union that inspires people all over the country — from the historic national strike against General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis in September 2023, to the months-long HarperCollins strike in New York City in 2022.

UAW members are bold and courageous. That’s why it’s such a deep honor to receive the endorsement [[link removed]] of UAW Region 9A, whose members keep New York City’s museums, nonprofits, universities, publishers, legal service providers, and yes, even auto dealerships, running.

Over the years, I’ve been honored to stand arm-in-arm with these union brothers and sisters in fights for fairness and dignity in the workplace, to guarantee good legal representation and prevent evictions, and to expand civil rights for all

I’ll even stand with the UAW in the rain — like I did last week with members outside City Hall. We rallied against the coward Andrew Cuomo, the candidate of corporations and cronyism who has never shown his face at Region 9A picket line.

Also alongside Region9A, we took over the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket on Saturday — canvassing with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, PSC-CUNY, CBID, and Brooklyn Indivisible. We spread out around Prospect Park to talk to voters and run a short training.

There’s nothing like union power, which is why I am equally proud to be endorsed by PSC-CUNY, IATSE Local 161, UNITE HERE Local 100, TWU Local 320, and the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association . As Mayor, I will continue our fight for good jobs, justice, and dignity.

I’ll also work hard to expand economic opportunities for veterans, as outlined in my new agenda [[link removed]] outlining how I’ll deliver for those who served. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that about 10.1% of employed veterans are union members.

At this dangerous moment where Donald Trump is rolling back democracy and screwing workers, we can make New York the city that fights for working people hardest of all. That’s why I released a workers’ rights platform [[link removed]] — the first of any candidate in this race.

As Mayor, I will establish a Mayor's Office of Workers' Rights and pass the Secure Jobs Act. I’ll stand in solidarity with organized labor to support workers’ rights, wages, and dignity. And you can be sure as hell that I'll be on the picket line with the UAW and every worker, every step of the way.
