john,

As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors this Memorial Day, I hope we can each take a moment to reflect on the meaning of today.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It’s a time to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country—those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might live in freedom and peace.

Across Washington’s 8th District and our nation, countless families carry the legacy of loved ones lost in uniform. Today, we hold them in our hearts and express our deepest gratitude. Whether you spend today visiting a cemetery, participating in a community memorial ceremony, or quietly remembering someone you’ve lost, I hope you’ll join me in pausing to reflect on the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of our fallen heroes and what they fought for.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Warmly,

Kim
