Dear Friends, 

In San Francisco and in every city and town across America, we mark Memorial Day as a solemn and sacred day of remembrance of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country that they and we love. 

It is a day to honor our fallen servicemembers for their sacrifice defending our Constitution and our Democracy and to lift up and recommit to caring for the beloved Gold Star Families they left behind. May the example of our fallen heroes inspire us to live up to the ideals that they fought for as we build a brighter future for our country that honors the vision of our founders and the aspiration of our children and that is worthy of their ultimate sacrifice. 

On this Memorial Day especially, we must come together as one nation with one destiny and echo their bravery, patriotism and commitment to the cause of freedom by upholding our Constitution, speaking truth to power and preserving our government of, by and For The People.
