I want to offer a brief moment of reflection this Memorial Day.

Since the founding of the United States, brave men and women have put their lives on the line so that future generations may live in a free nation – a nation that consistently rejects a tyrannical government in favor of a republic run by and for the people.

Today we pause and honor the brave servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may continue to be a free nation. Their heroic actions will never be forgotten and will always serve as a reminder of the high cost of the freedoms we all hold dear.

We must also recognize the Delawareans and Americans who are still serving in harm’s way, and we continue to pray for their safety as they defend our country around the world.

Today, and every day, we must thank our military members, past and present, for the sacrifices they have made to keep our families, our communities, and our nation safe.
