Friend --
Today is a hallowed day—a solemn moment for
reflection and gratitude.
At Country First, we pause to honor the brave men and women who
have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our
nation, our freedom and our democracy. Because of their courage, we
are free.
And on this day – we are thankful to all active members of the
Armed Services and to all our Veterans. Your service is a living
legacy of the values we hold dear.
We know our country is facing difficult challenges. But what gives
me hope—what reaffirms my belief in the resilience of this democracy
in the face of chaos—is the image of a young high school graduate who,
after walking across a stage last Saturday, walked into a local Armed
Forces Recruitment Office on Monday, raised their hand, and swore an
oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.
That’s America.
No other nation in the world has that kind of selfless,
generational commitment to freedom and duty. And that
spirit—that courage and patriotism—will always give
me hope in the face of any challenge we confront.
On this Memorial Day, we remember those we’ve lost, we thank those
who serve and who have served, and we recommit ourselves to defending
the freedoms they died to protect.
God bless the fallen. And may we always strive to be worthy
of their sacrifice.
