Happy Memorial Weekend, True Texans!
Yes, I realize some have said we shouldn't say "Happy" or "Celebrate" in conjunction with Memorial Day, preferring it to be a somber day of reflection. I just don't see it that way! I love this country, I'm grateful for those who have served and passed on, and hopefully many of them are enjoying eternal glory as we speak. Those are all reasons to be happy, and I think it's great that our country sets aside a day to remember these blessings.
Here are 3 pictures showing how my family celebrates every year...
Doesn't it give you chills when the streets are lined with flags? We always add to it, and sometimes the chickens celebrate with us...
Tomorrow will be the last year my daughter participates in a Color Guard ceremony as a Naval Sea Cadet at a local cemetery. Hats off to Trophy Club, Texas, for putting on the best Memorial Day tribute every year! Now that Lizzy is a Chief, she doesn't get to carry the Colors, but she will be behind the scenes leading those who do.
And yes, we make time to enjoy a day off, too! We'll be out on Grapevine Lake celebrating my husband Fred's birthday! (For those in the area, birthday dinner TODAY - join us!)
How do YOU spend this time? I hope you don't gloss over it and forget to show respect and gratitude, and that you also enjoy it! Mosey on over to our chat pages to share some of YOUR pics for the weekend. I'd love to see them!
THE BATTLE IS OURS We may be honoring those who have fought for our freedom previously, but that battle continues every day, and it's ours to fight. If you'd like to help us continue to build our influence and preserve our liberties, please consider donating. We urgently need the help, and I'm confident I will see God work. The question is, will He accomplish this through you?
