[Mental Health Awareness Month]([link removed]) is almost over, but there’s still time to make a crucial difference in helping us continue our important work in saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Contribute TODAY to help us raise a Million in May: funds that will go towards research, advocacy, loss support, education programs and more.

By pledging just $135 dollars, in recognition of the 135 people it has been estimated are affected by a single death by suicide, you can be one of many individuals who are making a difference.

Dave Thompson, of AFSP’s Minnesota Chapter, demonstrates just one of countless ways people can get involved in our cause. After the heartbreaking loss of his sister Katherine in 2012, Dave transformed his grief into advocacy, demonstrating his commitment through his participation in multiple charity marathons for Team AFSP:

“My dedication is fueled by love for my family, including Katherine’s daughters, my own children, my younger brother, and parents. I have learned that by channeling my pain into positive action, I can honor my sister’s memory while finding personal healing and striving to create a world where such tragedies can be prevented.

When I run for Team AFSP, I’m practicing self-care, which is universally important, and different for everybody. Through my involvement with AFSP, I strive to create more joy than guilt in myself and others. I’m driven by a hope that one day, no one will feel alone or misunderstood in their mental health journey. This is my promise to those who struggle and those we’ve lost.”

You can [read Dave’s full story]([link removed]) in AFSP’s 2024 Annual Report, where you can learn more about our local chapters, Out of the Darkness Walks, and important efforts toward loss support, education, research, advocacy, and more.

By contributing to AFSP Million in May campaign, you will join the many individuals across the country who are connected through shared experience, and help create a world where no one has to feel alone.

Help us reach our goal of a Million in May now.
