Folks, I hope you’re enjoying Memorial Day weekend. Before tomorrow, I wanted to write to you and reinforce something.

On Veterans Day in November, we celebrate the generations of people who served in the military but no longer wear the uniform.

Earlier this month, we celebrated Armed Forces Day. That’s a day to honor the people who are serving right now, the ones currently in uniform.

And on Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who never came home. Tomorrow, it’s not “Happy Memorial Day.” It’s about remembrance.

I’ll be remembering the friends I lost in Iraq. And I’ll be thinking about the guys who took their lives after we came home, too.

Enjoy the day off, enjoy the time with family and friends, enjoy the warm weather — but remember to take a moment and consider the ones who died for our country, our Constitution, and our people.

Thanks for keeping this in mind.
