Fellow Conservative, Every sports fan has run into this, no matter what their favorite contest or team.
It shouldn’t feel like solving a puzzle to find these games that are increasingly being shifted onto various streaming platforms – but it certainly does!
I grilled representatives of America’s major sports leagues last week. MLB, the NBA, and the NHL were all represented. The NFL declined to speak at the hearing.
I let these sports executives know that fans are growing extremely frustrated with their streaming practices and for good reason. It can be next to impossible to find some games at all and many games that used to be free or easy to find are now spread across pricey apps and exclusive deals.
We should not be allowing these streaming services to control our access to sports. Sports organizations receive special treatment under the law – from anti-trust protection non-profit status to taxpayer financing of stadiums – and fans are right to ask if these teams have a civic responsibility to their communities that includes making games accessible.
What do you think? Are you sick and tired of this shift we’ve seen in streaming services?
