John,
It’s been a busy week full of passing the Big, Beautiful Bill and delivering on our America First agenda, but I wanted to take a moment to update you on the important work we are doing to promote conservative values.
The House successfully passed President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” after a late-night session into Thursday morning. This is a historic win for the American people, and I am proud to have had a role in crafting this legislation as a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee. In addition to extending President Trump’s tax cuts, the bill also provides relief to western Minnesotans by doubling the child tax credit, raising the estate tax exemption to $15 million, and continuing tax relief to the more than 55,000 small businesses in our district. Now, the bill moves to the Senate. I am confident we can pass this legislation and deliver on another Trump administration promise.
Female Athletes United has filed a lawsuit against Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and other state leaders, calling on them to follow President Trump’s executive order and remove transgender athletes from women’s sports. Three high school softball players are at the center of this case, arguing that the state’s policy allowing transgender competitors has created an unfair, unsafe, and unjust environment. These brave young women are standing up for what’s right by challenging Minnesota’s failed leadership. Athletes are being denied their Title IX rights, while Governor Walz and AG Ellison act like that’s okay. I stand with these young women as they fight for their right to compete safely and fairly.
My House colleagues and I wrote a bipartisan letter to President Trump to ensure strong, renewable volume obligations for 2026 and beyond. This is especially important for U.S. energy independence and our agriculture communities. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has small refinery exemption authority and is months behind meeting the deadline to set these requirements. Our domestic biofuel facilities face uncertainty, and further delays with renewable volume obligations could result in closures, forcing rural employees out of work and harming local economies. We asked the Trump administration to set the biomass-based diesel RVOs at over five billion gallons in 2026 and reject abuse of small refinery exemption authority from the EPA. Ensuring these obligations will be a tremendous win for our farmers and ranchers, our energy independence, and the strength of our agricultural communities.
Finally, it’s truly remarkable to see an American leading the Catholic Church on the world stage, and that’s why it was an honor to attend the installation mass for Pope Leo XIV. I am grateful for the unique opportunity to witness history first-hand.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.
