[link removed] [[link removed]] Team, this close to Election Day, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily give-and-take of campaigns — fundraising deadlines, TV ads, cable news headlines, etc. But that’s not what I want this email to be about. I’d like to talk with you about why I’m in this fight, and what I hope to accomplish as our next governor.
Growing up, I was raised to believe that we have an obligation to serve our community and our country. It’s why I decided to enter the Naval Academy and spent nearly a decade serving our country as a Navy helicopter pilot and Russian policy officer.
And it’s also why I first decided to run for office in 2018. I couldn’t sit back and watch Donald Trump attack the very values I had dedicated my life protecting – so I stepped up and ran for Congress in a district that had been held by Republicans for over 33 years.
We were the underdog. But we were laser-focused on what we were fighting for, and together, we won. No district anywhere in the country saw a bigger shift toward Democrats than the one we flipped here in New Jersey.
Today, once again, I see the people and the principles I’ve dedicated my life to serving coming under attack. And that’s why I’m once again stepping up to serve.
My vision for our state is simple: Make life better for New Jerseyans.
I’ll fight to ensure quality and affordable childcare for every family, improve access to education, work to bring down utility costs, and crack down on shady middlemen making prescription medications more expensive.
I’ll defend our constitutional freedoms and protect New Jersey from the right-wing extremists who are taking our nation down a destructive path.
In big ways, and in small, that’s what this grassroots campaign is all about: Just making life easier and more affordable for our families.
If you share my vision for New Jersey, then I am humbly asking for your support today. With less than three weeks to go before the June 10 primary, anything you can contribute today, even just $5, will make a critical difference. [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Mikie
