Walmart tests store with self-checkout only

A Walmart in Fayetteville, Ark., is reimagining the shopping experience during the COVID-19 pandemic by using self-checkout counters only, in lieu of traditional cashier lanes. According to a spokesperson for the company, the goal is to see if the increased use of self-checkout will speed up purchases while providing a safer experience for shoppers through less interaction.

Gov. Cuomo threatens restaurants that violate physical distancing with loss of liquor license

Upset by violations of New York’s pandemic-fighting restrictions, Gov. Andrew Cuomo threatened to pull liquor licenses of restaurants who do not follow physical distancing guidelines and even reinstate closings in areas where local governments fail to enforce rules.

The next 'growing' trend: Algae in beer

The Australian brewery Young Henrys is working to fight climate change with an unusual ingredient—algae. The fermentation process that occurs during beer production releases massive amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2), which can contribute to climate change. But, Young Henrys says their in-house cultivated algae not only absorb the CO2 released, they also produce as much oxygen as two and half acres of wilderness.
