Donald Trump has made it clear: he doesn’t want fair judges. He wants MAGA
collaborators who will shield him from consequences and help him carry out
his agenda unchecked.

He’s defied Supreme Court orders. Attacked judges who ruled against him.
Used the Justice Department to punish his enemies. Now, he’s demanding the
Senate confirm a wave of judicial nominees who would serve his interests –
not the law.

Trump has already nominated five judges, including one to a powerful
federal appeals court. But reports say more are coming – and it’s clear
what kind of people he’s looking for.

Take Emil Bove. He’s not a nominee yet, but Trump is reportedly eyeing him
for the bench. Bove is a former Trump defense lawyer now in a top DOJ
post, where he’s led political purges of prosecutors and FBI agents who
worked on January 6 cases. He even tried to dismiss a corruption case in
exchange for political favors – a move so extreme that multiple senior DOJ
officials resigned in response. ^[1]

Trump doesn’t want judges who interpret the law. He wants operatives who
will help him bend or ignore it.

As People For’s senior legislative counsel Paul Gordon warned in a recent
op-ed:

“As long as Trump continues to disregard the rule of law and threaten
judges he believes are standing in the way of his authoritarian rule,
the Senate should not be confirming any judicial nominees he puts

He’s right. These aren’t just ordinary appointments – they are lifetime
seats of power. And if the Senate confirms Trump’s picks, it won’t just
tilt the courts. It will destroy one of the last remaining checks on his
abuse of power.
