➤➤ BREAKING: Supreme Court refuses to hear challenge to Maine’s LGBTQ+ protections
[link removed] [[link removed]]
The Supreme Court just declined to hear a case brought by right-wing legal groups attacking Maine’s civil rights law that protects transgender people from discrimination in housing.
This is a temporary win — but it’s also a warning.
Because the legal strategy behind this case is clear: use so-called “religious freedom” claims to carve out broad exemptions from anti-discrimination laws, starting with LGBTQ+ protections and expanding from there.
This wasn’t an isolated lawsuit. It was backed by the same dark-money networks fueling attacks on voting rights, abortion access, and public education. They want to chip away at civil rights, state by state, court by court — and they’re not stopping here.
At DASS, we’re not just electing Secretaries of State — we’re building the legal infrastructure to protect them and defend democracy in court.
We know more lawsuits are coming. Trump and his allies are testing how far they can go. The only way we stop them is by being ready to fight back in every venue, including the courts.
That’s why we’re hoping you’ll chip in $3 – or whatever you can – today to support our fight against help us fight back against the next attack on equality and freedom. [[link removed]]
