HISTORIC TAX RELIEF

I promised my constituents I would fight to keep their taxes low – and that’s exactly what I voted to do earlier this week. The passage of H.R. 1 – the One Big, Beautiful Bill – will prevent the looming tax increase set to occur at the end of 2025 that would be the largest hike in our nation’s history. Job growth, take-home pay, and economic opportunities hit historic highs following the passage of the 2017 tax cuts. This bill extends and expands those pro-worker and pro-family policies.

Here’s how H.R. 1 will help workers and American families:

  • Keeps taxes low across at all tax brackets
  • No tax on tips
  • No tax on overtime
  • Extends and expands the Child Tax Credit to $2,500 per child
  • Increases the amount of state and local taxes (SALT) families can deduct by 400% - now up to $40,000
  • Increases the standard deduction for seniors
  • No tax on interest on car loans

Here's just one example of an American worker who will benefit from H.R. 1:

RESPONSIBLE REFORMS

I have made it clear throughout this process that I would not support cuts to Medicaid for seniors, children, mothers, and the disabled. H.R. 1 protects these populations and does NOT cut Medicaid for seniors, children, mothers, and the disabled. The bill makes NO cuts or changes to Social Security, Medicare, or veterans’ benefits.

The changes to Medicaid strengthen the program by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. The bill protects taxpayers from paying for ineligible recipients of Medicaid benefits – including illegal immigrants – with new verification procedures. Our bill also implements new work requirements for able bodied adults under 65 with no children. These are responsible reforms that are supported by Americans to encourage people to find work, further their education, or volunteer in their community.

PALM SPRINGS BOMBING

Last Saturday’s heinous attack on the Palm Springs community was an appalling act that I unequivocally condemn. My prayers continue to be with everyone injured and affected. I deeply appreciate all of the first responders and law enforcement personnel who worked diligently to protect the Palm Springs community. I can’t emphasize strongly enough that our community values the contributions of fertility clinics like the American Reproductive Centers of Palm Springs and the life-creating role they play in making families possible. We will standby and protect those who help give us the greatest of gifts.

ANTISEMITIC TERROR IN DC

Image

Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, two staff members at the Israeli Embassy, were shot and killed by an antisemitic terrorist outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C.

Two staff members from the Israeli embassy were shot and killed earlier this week outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. I’m horrified by this evil act of terrorism in our nation’s capital. We will deliver justice to the terrorist responsible and continue to stand by our ally Israel. My prayers are with the families of the victims and everyone at the Israeli embassy. The dangerous rise in antisemitism in our country must end.

EASTVALE ZIP CODE UPDATE

Eastvale residents and small businesses are one step closer to having the single, unique ZIP Code they have been seeking since incorporating as a city. This week, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee advanced H.R. 672, which incorporates the bipartisan bill I introduced along with Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA). As we have heard, establishing a single, unique ZIP Code for Eastvale is important for the city’s identity, GPS directions, insurance rates, the collection of sales taxes, and other factors. I'm hopeful the bill will be approved on the House floor in the near future.

HONORING OUR FALLEN HEROES

Image

This Monday, we will pause to honor and thank the heroes who gave all in defense of our country. Our liberties have been secured since the birth of our nation thanks to the men and women willing to step forward and sacrifice everything in service to their countrymen. On Memorial Day we remember these fallen heroes as well as keep them and their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
