The massive Republican spending bill that just passed not only fails to address our country’s gun violence crisis—it actively makes it worse. Here’s why, and the reason we need you to chip in to the Alliance:

Buried in this legislation is a reckless repeal of a 100-year-old tax on gun silencers. This move will do nothing to reduce violence. What it will do is:

* Drain funding from our communities,
* Cost taxpayers money, and
* Make it even harder for survivors of gun violence to protect themselves and seek justice.

And who benefits? The gun industry. Again.

This isn’t a one-off. It's part of a disturbing trend: The Trump administration has already shut down the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, deleted critical public health data, and now they’re pushing to dismantle what little police accountability remains.

The message is clear: They’re putting the profits of the gun lobby ahead of our lives.

While the federal government caves to special interests, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility is continuing to fight in the states, where we know we can make a real difference. We’ve already passed some of the strongest gun responsibility laws in the country—and we’re just getting started.
