Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, Thank you to everyone who called in to my telephone town hall with Senator Joni Ernst this week. We had over 5,600 Iowans join the wide-ranging conversation on DOGE, cutting taxes for Iowa families, rooting out government waste, and more! During the call, I asked folks to rank their top priority for Congress and the Trump Administration to focus on. As promised, below are the results from the poll we took during the telephone town hall. Ensuring I’m transparent and accessible to Iowans has always been a priority for me. I look forward to hosting two more in-person town halls next week and hearing from Iowans about the issues that matter most to them. Details below — hope to see you Wednesday! Clayton County Town Hall Wednesday, May 28th 11:00 am Elkader Opera House 207 N Main St, Elkader, IA 52043 Winneshiek County Town Hall Wednesday, May 28th 2:00 pm Luther College – Center for Faith and Life 555 College Dr, Decorah, IA 52101 *Attendees may park in the Library Parking Lot 585 Library Street, Decorah, IA 52101* Sincerely, Promises Made, Promises Kept for Iowans I was proud to vote for President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill—a generational investment to secure our borders permanently, provide tax relief for working Americans, and return America to prosperity. This bill is promises made, promises kept in action. Iowans overwhelmingly voted for President Trump’s America First agenda—ending illegal immigration and preventing dangerous criminals and drugs from entering our communities, cutting wasteful spending, and unleashing American energy. Throughout this process, I was proud to champion provisions to help working families keep more of their hard-earned dollars, including expanding the child tax credit, making small business tax cuts permanent, and eliminating taxes on tips. This would not have been possible without President Trump’s leadership, and I look forward to working with him to get this transformational legislation signed into law. Voting to Support America's Heroes Ahead of Memorial Day, the House passed several commonsense, bipartisan bills to help improve care for our nation’s heroes. It may not be deemed the most “newsworthy” of items by cable news, but this is important work that will have an impact. These bills include: CHIP IN for Veterans Act to modernize VA facilities Simplify Forms for Veterans Act to ease bureaucratic paperwork at the VA No Wrong Door for Veterans Act to help prevent veteran suicide Ensuring our veterans have the care and services they deserve is a top priority. If you are a veteran or have a family member who is a veteran in need of assistance, please call one of my offices today.
