Dear A.,

The fifth round of nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran was

held in Rome today , which U.S. officials described as "constructive" but said that "there is still more work to be done."

The talks reportedly lasted over two hours. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and State Department policy planning director Michael Anton represented the United States.

Witkoff met with Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and Mossad chief David Barnea this morning ahead of the talks.

The Trump administration has repeated its red line that any agreement must include the “total dismantlement” of Iran’s nuclear program and the elimination of its enrichment capabilities.

Last weekend, Witkoff said, "We have one very, very clear red line, and that is enrichment.
We cannot allow even 1% of an enrichment capability."

Yet ahead of today's meeting, Iran's foreign minister

rebuffed the American position saying, "Zero enrichment = we do NOT have a deal."

Below are additional news stories to note as we head into the weekend. We will continue to provide updates on key developments across our

As this difficult and heartbreaking week comes to a close, I want to wish you and your family Shabbat Shalom. Tonight we'll think about the families of the 58 hostages as well as the friends, family and colleagues of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky.

We'll also spend this weekend thinking about the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and the freedoms we cherish. I hope you have a good and meaningful Memorial Day Weekend.

In 4th attack on Israel in week, IDF intercepts Houthi missile fired from Yemen

At 4:15 a.m. this morning, hundreds of thousands of Israelis were awakened by blaring air raid sirens as Iran-backed Houthi terrorists launched another ballistic missile at Israel.

It was the 38th ballistic missile launched by Iran's terror proxy at Israel since March alone.

Once again, Israel's remarkable Arrow-3 missile defense system was activated over Israel's skies and intercepted the missile before it could cause mass destruction.

AIPAC has lobbied Democrats and Republicans in Washington to support and fund the Arrow program for more than three decades.

While Iran and its terror proxies try to kill Israelis and cause unimaginable damage in Israel, the people of Israel are better protected thanks to the work that you've helped make possible through your support of AIPAC.

83 more aid trucks enter Gaza today, hundreds this week

Israel continues to facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid into Gaza, ahead of additional distribution mechanisms being implemented starting this weekend to prevent Hamas from stealing the aid.

An additional 83 trucks carrying flour, food, medical equipment, and pharmaceutical drugs were transferred today through the Kerem Shalom Crossing. Hundreds more trucks entered Gaza this week.

Beginning Sunday, the American-led Gaza Humanitarian Foundation will begin distributing food directly to Gazan families, in safe zones secured by the IDF.

As part of the new aid delivery mechanism, American security contractors will secure four distribution sites, aiming to provide 300 million meals over a 90-day period, with the first site being secured this weekend.

"The IDF will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip while making every effort to ensure that the aid does not reach the hands of the Hamas terrorist organization," the IDF said.

Bipartisan Senate bill seeks to cement sanctions on Iran

Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) are leading an effort to cement sanctions that restrict funding for Iran’s energy and weapons sectors, which the regime uses to fund terrorism and develop its nuclear program.

The Solidify Iran Sanctions Act – cosponsored by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), and Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) – would make permanent energy and weapons sanctions in the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996.

The legislation passed the House of Representatives unanimously earlier this month.

AIPAC strongly supports this legislation. As the U.S. engages in negotiations with Iran over the country's nuclear program, it is crucial the U.S. maintain economic pressure on the regime to end its destructive actions.

We are outraged and horrified by the terrorist attack that resulted in the murder of two Israeli embassy staff members. May their memories be a blessing.

Yuval Raphael survived a massacre at a music festival less than 2 years ago. Last week, she won 2nd place representing Israel on Europe's biggest stage.

58 hostages, including 4 Americans, are still being held captive in horrific conditions by genocidal Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Where are the stories about UN officials repeatedly and blatantly spreading malicious lies to demonize Israel?

Support our work to keep Israel safe.

The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
