After pulling an all-nighter fueled by one too many PB&Js, the House passed the âOne Big Beautiful Bill Act.â
Â
Iâll admit, it wasnât always a sure thing. I wasnât exactly a shoo-in as Speaker Johnson carefully tallied up the possible yays and nays.
Â
While the bill slows our rate of racking up debt, Iâd prefer we slam the brakes entirely, but I also know youâve gotta take the wins where you can. At the end of the day, this bill is going to do some serious good for folks like youâand thatâs why I voted for it.
Â
Weâre making historic investments in border security, cutting red tape to unleash American energy, renewing Trumpâs tax cuts, and a whole lot more. No tax on tips, tax breaks for seniors on Social Security, and incentives if you buy an American-made car are in there too.
Â
Without these tax cuts, a family of four in Tennessee making $67,000 would see their taxes go up by $1,300 next year. Lifeâs expensive enough these daysâIâll always fight for you to keep more of your hard-earned money.
Â
Oh, and this bill isnât the bogeyman coming for Medicaid, no matter how much Democrats lie. In fact, weâre protecting the program by cutting the rotten waste, fraud, and abuse that was on track to destroy the whole thing.
Â
Weâre removing folks who have died and closing loopholes that allow illegal aliens to get benefits, so Americans who actually rely on Medicaid will get what they need.
Â
Now itâs time for the Senate to take a crack at it, and my hope is that our fellow Republicans over there will stay focused and fight for this legislation.Â
Â
No bill will ever be perfect, but if we take things one step at a time, we can fulfill the mandate of the American people. Weâre helping President Trump in his fight to take back our dadgum countryâand Iâll sleep good tonight knowing that.
