No Veteran thinks the VA is perfect.

I’d even be willing to bet that everybody working at the VA could list a ton of ways they could improve things if they had a chance.

I saw this firsthand after I came back from Iraq. It wasn’t easy to get the services I needed. A lot of the guys I fought beside struggled with it, too. I had to fight for it for myself and for them.

But I’ll tell you something. No serious person thinks you’re going to cut your way to better services at the VA. Nobody who uses the VA thinks they’re going to start doing a better job after Trump and Secretary Collins fire 83,000 more staff and take billions out of their budget. And at the VA, a ton of those staff are veterans themselves.

It’s absolute nonsense. Completely ridiculous.

I’m not just going to give Trump and Collins a pass as they pursue a course of action that is going to do permanent damage to the VA, to the people who work there, and the people who depend on it.

So, yes. I am blocking Collins and Trump’s nominees to the VA. I am going to keep blocking their nominees until they back off their plans to fire all those VA staff.

Some of these appointees may be veterans. They might even be great for the job. But until Collins reverses course and commits to actually working to improve things over at the VA — tough. Because if he can’t do his job without a few political appointees, imagine how much worse it’s going to be when he fires 83,000 staff.

We can’t give these people an inch, and I don’t intend to.

Now, I’m asking you: Join me and tell Secretary Collins to reverse course and end his plans to fire 83,000 VA staff.
