Last month, conservatives in the House of Representatives passed the SAVE Act — a bill that would disenfranchise millions of Americans. This extreme, anti-voter bill would make it harder for tens of millions of Americans to make their voices heard by requiring overly burdensome proof of citizenship to register and cast your ballot.

If you think this legislation won’t affect you or someone you love, think again. Tens of millions of legally eligible voters — including military voters, rural voters, tribal citizens, survivors of natural disasters, people of color, working-class Americans, and married women — are all at risk. If you no longer have your original birth certificate or if you changed your name after getting married, for instance, you will have to jump through several time-consuming and costly hurdles just to exercise your basic right to vote.

Extreme lawmakers passed this bill despite widespread opposition from voting rights groups and their constituents — all under the false pretense that it will protect the integrity of our elections.

Let’s be clear: Making it difficult for certain citizens to vote does not safeguard elections — it actively weakens the very foundation of our democracy.

All On The Line has been mobilizing supporters to hold the line against this anti-voter law. The Senate is our last chance to stop it from reaching the president’s desk.

It fell short this week when one senator tried to pass it via unanimous consent, but they are certain to bring it to the floor again. We need to fight back hard to ensure this does not go one step further.
