Lt. Governor Jim Tressel visited [ [link removed] ] Lorain County Community College (LCCC) as part of his ongoing work to evaluate the workforce strengths and needs of regions across the state.

The Lt. Governor joined local education, business, and community leaders for a roundtable discussion, which largely focused on LCCC being among the first schools in Ohio to offer expanded access to College Credit Plus [ [link removed] ] classes through a new Statewide Innovative Waiver.

“With more companies moving to Ohio, we have an incredible amount of job opportunities coming our way – particularly in fields like advanced manufacturing,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “As we continue our efforts to align Ohio’s workforce with the demands of our economy of the future, the expansion of our College Credit Plus program is a valuable opportunity for more students to earn college credit or even industry-recognized credentials at no cost while still in high school. These credits or credentials are things these students can take with them through their entire lives.”

DeWine unveils 988 license plate [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine joined [ [link removed] ] leaders from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation to unveil a new specialty license plate intended to increase awareness of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline [ [link removed] ].

“Every life matters, and the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a vital part of Ohio’s effort to ensure that help is available when it's needed most,” said Governor DeWine. “These specialized license plates are another example of how we are getting the word out about this important, lifesaving resource.”

DeWine and Tressel lay wreath to honor fallen soldiers [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel honored [ [link removed] ] Ohio service members who sacrificed their lives while serving their country by joining Gold Star families in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse ahead of Memorial Day.

“Our fallen heroes believed in freedom, took an oath to defend it, and gave their lives doing just that. We owe them a debt we can never repay,” said Governor DeWine. “As we lay a wreath as a symbol of our commitment to remember and honor, please say a prayer for our fallen heroes, and a prayer for their loved ones, as well.”

“Today, we are honored to stand with Ohio’s Gold Star families in gratitude, in remembrance, and in honor of our fallen service members,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “All of the incredible opportunities we have in our state are only possible because of the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom. We are forever indebted to those who gave their lives in service to our country, and to the loved ones who carry their legacies forward every day.”

Governor and First Lady DeWine traveled to Gallipolis to celebrate the 200th anniversary of General Lafayette’s visit to the town. The Governor and First Lady participated in the re-enactment event as former Ohio Governor Jeremiah Morrow and his wife, Mary.

DeWine at NATO spring meeting in Dayton [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine gave welcoming remarks at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly 2025 Spring Meeting in Dayton. 

The meeting falls near the 30-year anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords, which were important to NATO's efforts to ensure global safety and security three decades ago.
