➤➤ BREAKING: Secretary of State Rubio dismisses judicial authority in Senate testimony
They’re not trying to hide it anymore, John.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio just made a startling declaration: neither he nor the president is bound by judicial oversight in conducting foreign policy.
Clearly he and Donald Trump have no concern for checks and balances.
When questioned about the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident mistakenly removed to El Salvador, Rubio spewed unverified claims about Garcia's alleged criminal affiliations, and even said, "No judge can tell me or the president how to conduct foreign policy."
Horrifying.
Secretary Rubio and the Trump Administration want to undermine the separation of powers and threaten the very fabric of our democracy. If no one’s watching the executive branch, there’s no telling what abuses they’ll get away with – or how far they’ll go to put their power above the law.
The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) recognizes the importance of upholding the rule of law at every level of government. Unlike the current administration’s Secretary of State, our Secretaries of State are dedicated to upholding the integrity of our democratic institutions.
