John, by now you’ve likely heard that the Republican controlled House passed their budget bill yesterday.
If it becomes law, millions of people will lose their health care. Millions will lose food assistance that keeps their families from going hungry or broke.
But it goes further than that. Clean energy tax incentives are cancelled. That’s going to make it a lot harder for a ton of growing businesses, and American companies are going to have to scale back, lay off staff, or shut down altogether.
They even took a $200 tax off of gun silencers that has been on the books for 90 years. That’s going to make it harder for law enforcement to track down threats during the mass shootings that have become all too common over the last several years.
They’re making the wealthiest people in this country even richer, taking services from the folks working to make ends meet, and adding trillions and trillions of dollars to our national debt.
That budget goes to the Senate now, where I will do whatever I can to stop it. This is not over, and there is still a lot of time on the clock.
I need you with me, speaking out and doing what you can in your community. The only way we’ll keep this from passing is by building a national movement against it. We’ve got to show them how unpopular this bill is, and the price they’ll pay if they force it through.
Hope I can count on you.
As always, thanks for reading.
Mark
