#Fight4HER's Repro Rundown
After a rapid fire week of committee hearings on the ridiculously named House of Representatives budget bill, the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act,” House Republicans passed the bill early Thursday morning while the rest of the country was still sleeping and unaware.
This devastating bill, if passed by the Senate, will drastically cut maternal and child health programs, family planning services, and HIV prevention efforts. Extremist GOP lawmakers have succeeded in one chamber of Congress so far in slashing billions of dollars in Medicaid funding in the United States, jeopardizing care for one in every five people.
Medicaid covers 42% [[link removed]] of all births and 75% [[link removed].] of publicly funded family planning services, and provides essential care for people who have no other access to healthcare. Stripping people of their healthcare to bankroll tax cuts for the exorbitantly wealthy is diabolical and will have irrevocable effects on people’s lives. Maternal mortality and health disparities will increase. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, rural, and low-income communities will be disproportionately harmed.
Devious House Republicans also got away with defunding Planned Parenthood in the more appropriately named Big Bad Bill . This is nothing more than a plot to end abortion in the United States, and they are happy to take away birth control, cancer screenings, access to healthcare, and more in the process.
Join us to fight back by telling your members of Congress they must act now to protect our fundamental right to contraception.
