Dear john,
As folks across the country prepare to observe Memorial Day Weekend, I am reflecting on the lives and legacies of the men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for this nation. While we can never fully repay the debt we owe their families, I am committed to honoring their service and sacrifice each and every day.
As I continue my work advocating for the needs and priorities of families all across our community, I wanted to provide an update about the federal budget process. While most Americans were sleeping on Wednesday night, House Republicans jammed through a budget bill that will make detrimental cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital programs. Along with all of my House Democratic colleagues, I voted NO on this budget. I want you to know that I am fighting on your behalf, and I care deeply about how this proposed budget would impact you.
In our district alone, over 55,000 people on Medicaid and 17,000 people on SNAP are at risk of losing their benefits if this budget passes the Senate. I want to hear from you. If you have a story about how these cuts would impact you, please share it with my office.
