LGBTQ+ Pride Month is right around the corner, and as we speak, legislators in our target states are expediting bills that target the LGBTQ+ community.

For example, in Oklahoma, HB 1217 was just signed by the Governor and immediately put into effect through an emergency clause. This dangerous law could be used to target and punish drag performers for completely legal, public performances.

We’ve seen similar bills before, and so has our partner, Freedom Oklahoma. And one thing is for certain: Bills like HB 1217 aren’t about obscenity — they are about control.

Anyone who violates this law could be fined and even imprisoned. Freedom of expression, art, and choice are critical, and we need to support advocates who are loud and proud in their communities across our partner states.
