President Trump and his trade war are a mess. The increases in tariffs and the use of national emergency powers: Trump is sowing chaos. There was no method to the madness — he was putting tariffs on uninhabited islands as well as a couple of islands only inhabited by penguins. He announces tariffs and rolls them back with no plan, only creating uncertainty for hardworking families across America. This is the spaghetti on the wall approach that fuels the Republican Rip-Off.

The chaos of this madness is impacting Northwest Washington. Local public broadcasting stations, local rural libraries that provide free wifi for their community, and health care access through Medicaid are all impacted by their indiscriminate budget cuts. These budget cuts are forcing difficult decisions already, and will only get tougher because of the uncertainty of the future.

Trump's focus on the chaos is leading to many broken campaign promises and increased prices. There is no strategy beyond this chaos, and President Trump is going against the values of Northwest Washington.
