[link removed] [[link removed]] The disastrous budget bill National Republicans rammed through the House early yesterday morning is not just deeply out-of-touch with the needs of the American people.
It is dangerous, irresponsible, and a recipe for drowning hardworking Kansas families in even higher costs.
The extreme GOP budget rips health care away from thousands of Kansans and takes food off the tables of hardworking families, all to hand massive tax giveaways to billionaires and the ultra-wealthy at the expense of our neighbors and communities.
Throughout the process, I introduced multiple commonsense amendments to reduce the damage this bill would inflict, including measures to protect the Affordable Care Act from cuts, support rural hospitals, and save Kansas jobs. House Republicans rejected every single one of them.
I won’t shield you from the truth: This budget vote is a massive setback for our state. But this isn’t the end of the fight.
This bill still needs to pass the Senate, and I can promise you that I will keep pushing back every way I can against this devastating budget scheme until the very last minute.
That’s why I wanted to ask: Will you sign my petition urging the Senate to vote NO on this Medicaid-slashing, SNAP-gutting budget bill? Despite this setback, we can’t stop pushing for policies that put people first — not billionaires or powerful donors.
