Indivisibles,
Donald Trump wants all the perks of a king. He craves glory, so he’s
planning a military parade on his birthday. He craves wealth, so he’s
profiting from his office and taking lavish gifts like a “flying palace.”
He craves power, so he’s treating the justice system as his royal
bludgeon.
Consider what happened this week:
* On Wednesday, House Republicans voted for a provision -- a single line
hidden deep in the reconciliation bill -- that shields Trump and his
allies from being held in contempt of court. In short, they’re trying
to pass a law that lets Trump freely defy court orders.
* Two days earlier, on Monday, Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver was
charged with a federal crime by Trump’s personal ally and former
lawyer. The purely political charge came after ICE agents tried to
block McIver’s team from inspecting a detention facility, which is her
legal right and professional responsibility as a member of Congress.
That’s just three days of his authoritarian attacks on our justice system.
The list could go on and on:
Trump is overtly ignoring court orders. Trump is having ICE disappear
political dissidents. Trump is attacking judges, lawyers, and law firms
that don’t bend the knee. Trump -- with Congressional Republicans’ help --
is sweeping aside written law with a wave of his hand.
So how do we stop him?
We rally every source of economic and political power we’ve got -- banks,
businesses, academia, the press, culture, and beyond -- to resist his
authoritarian power-grab as aggressively as he’s fighting to dominate us.
But too few of our key institutions have been standing with us, so far.
Either they’re not taking the threat seriously, or they see fighting back
as too risky.
We need to take to the streets to show those in a position to fight that,
if they help hold the line, millions of us will be with them. That there’s
more to gain from standing with us than from meekly bowing down to a
would-be king.
That’s what June 14, No Kings Day, is all about. We need millions of
people -- including you, if you’re able -- to stand up all at once and
remind the rest of America that power comes from the people: not a throne,
crown, or king.

Kings Day, with new locations added daily. Use our No Kings event map to

From city blocks to small towns and from courthouse steps to community
parks, we need to rise up together and take action to reject
authoritarianism. It’s how we remind our friends, neighbors, and civic
leaders what democracy really looks like -- and show them this is a fight
worth having.
Donald Trump wants to stand above the law, like a king.
But we don’t do kings in America. Not now. Not ever. [ [link removed] ]Click here to join
millions of your fellow Americans on June 14 to reject the authoritarian
regime before it can spread its foul roots any deeper.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
P.S. We expect No Kings Day to be a generational day of protest, and that
takes a lot to pull off -- tools to organize, staff to plan, security,
signs, portapotties, and on and on. [ [link removed] ]If you’re able, please consider
donating today to fund everything we’ll need to make June 14 massive,
safe, and historic.
