A message from Council Leader, Councillor Neghat Khan
Conference
This week, I was joined by partners from the across the region at UKREiiF, the biggest development and investment event in the country. It was a packed two days promoting innovation, growth and opportunity across the East Midlands. I was particularly pleased to showcase a series of major development opportunities bringing jobs, homes and business growth across Nottingham.
Pool
I was delighted to join the official reopening of Victoria Embankment Paddling Pool on Thursday, following transformation of the site made possible through National Heritage Lottery funding. Built in 1928, the paddling pool is vital part of Nottingham’s cultural heritage with nearly 100 years of cherished memories and I’m looking forward to Nottingham children making plenty more!
This month marks one year since I became Leader of Nottingham City Council. It’s been a year of challenges, but also real progress - from improving our governance and finances to investing in services that matter most to citizens.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and grateful for the hard work of councillors, officers, and partners who’ve helped us move forward. There’s still more to do, but I’m confident we’re on the right path to building a stronger, fairer Nottingham.

Council approves proposals for new homes in Bulwell and St Ann’s
Nottingham City Council has approved the development of proposals to build new council homes in Bulwell and St Ann’s as part of the Building a Better Nottingham programme.
The proposal for Bulwell would see an under-used garage site behind the Colston Road and Austin Street flats transformed. The site currently has 54 garages, 33 of which are empty. There have been issues with vandalism and the misuse of vacant garages for rubbish and fly-tipping; two are sealed up following fire damage.
The St Ann’s proposals at Robin Hood Chase are for around 15 new council houses. Like the flats in Bulwell, they would be energy efficient to minimise bills for residents and would have rents set at affordable levels.
