The Trump administration just slammed the brakes on a key part of our clean transportation future by unlawfully and indefinitely freezing billions in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure funding meant to build the nation's backbone of highway charging stations across the country.

But Trump is working to reverse that progress, putting polluters first and threatening what we've fought so hard to achieve. That's why the Sierra Club has been leading the fight against Trump's efforts to block the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) highway charging program. Now, along with 16 states and Washington, D.C., we are suing the Trump administration in federal court. Together, we will restart the NEVI Program, a transformative $5 billion initiative to build fast-charging stations along major highways.
Stopping Trump is urgent. Harvard University found that Trump blocking the NEVI highway charging network would be one of the single most damaging steps in stopping the EV transition. States couldn't move forward with critical EV infrastructure, and millions of Americans would be left without the tools they need to transition to cleaner cars and a healthier future. You should not be penalized for driving an EV and supporting climate progress.
