John,
Yesterday, the House passed a devastating budget that defunds Planned Parenthood and attacks Medicaid, decimating healthcare access for millions of Americans.
Budgets are moral documents, and this one is a cruel attack on working families across the country. Please take a moment to join us in telling the Senate to vote NO on Trump’s cruel budget.
This budget:
- Defunds Planned Parenthood with a provision that the Congressional Budget Office estimates will increase the deficit by $300 million dollars
- Slashes $1 trillion from Medicaid and food stamps, programs that tens of millions of Americans rely on to access healthcare and feed their families
- Blocks Medicaid patients from receiving gender-affirming care, making basic healthcare for trans people dependent on wealth
Make no mistake: this budget is a transparent effort to enrich the wealthiest people in the country at the expense of millions of hardworking families.
The latest estimates from the Treasury’s Office of Tax Analysis indicate that the benefits of this bill will be heavily skewed towards the top 0.1% of earners—those making over $3.5 million for a family of 2.
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that somewhere between 8 million and 15 million people will lose healthcare coverage as a direct result of this budget, and we know that hospital and clinic closures will impact millions more.
This isn’t governing—it’s a shameful political move that will do irreversible damage to our public health system and our communities to appease billionaires and corporations.
Together, we must demand better from our elected officials.
In solidarity,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
