As we get close to the halfway mark of 2025, we’re racing towards critical state-level elections.
In the coming months, the balance of power will be decided in Michigan’s state senate, Pennsylvania’s state supreme court, and the Virginia House of Delegates, where all 100 seats are up for election, along with the seats for governor.
Every single one of these races has the potential to impact redistricting in key battleground states. 2025 is a major election year for the fair maps movement, and we’ve got to keep up with all of our fundraising targets as we work to fully fund our efforts.

The fact of the matter is this: there is no off-season when it comes to redistricting.
In addition to helping shape the redistricting process, elections this year will make a difference for the future of core freedoms.
Just take a look at Virginia. Races this year will determine whether major constitutional amendments can move forward in 2026:
- The Right to Reproductive Freedom | Right now, Virginia is the last state in the southern region that hasn’t implemented a post-Roe abortion ban.
- Remove Constitutional Same-Sex Marriage Ban | Yes, this is still a thing in the Virginia Constitution.
- Voting Rights Restored for Felons Upon Release | Fighting for a truly representative democracy includes fighting for EVERY eligible voter to be able to make their voice heard.
And with Donald Trump’s extremist agenda serving as a blueprint for states to follow, state-level races are pivotal opportunities to fight back against the MAGA agenda.
