Early this morning, under the cover of night, House Republicans rammed through a cruel, callous, and morally bankrupt bill.

This bill is clueless to what the American people are dealing with.

If passed in the Senate, it would gut Medicaid, slash food assistance, and kick 14 million people off their healthcare. All to shower toy spaceship billionaires with hundreds of billions more in tax giveaways.

We’re talking about generations of harm. Lives lost because of defunded cancer research. Pregnant mothers denied essential health care. School lunch programs gutted, leaving our babies hungry.

And for what? To line the pockets and stroke the egos of a few petty billionaires like Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

And mind you, this is coming from the party that claims to be “pro-family.”

I believe in the promise of this nation. I believe in the possibility that our government can do right by people and help us throughout the most vulnerable moments.

This bill is the antithesis of that, and it is a shameful betrayal of our shared humanity.

This bill is deeply unpopular and Republicans know it – otherwise they would have advanced this bill in the light of day. I urge the Senate to reject this heinous legislation. To do right by the people who sent you here.

And if these Republicans can’t listen to the people who voted them in, then I say give up your damn seat.

This is a somber day, but this fight is not over. We need to make our message loud and clear. Will you add your name and help us show the widespread opposition to this Republican plan?
