Dear John,
Join the National Women's Law Center (NWLC) on Thursday, May 29 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. EDT at Regal Gallery Place (701 7th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001) for a screening of Lilly , a film directed and produced by Rachel Feldman, that depicts Patricia Clarkson playing Lilly Ledbetter, Alabama factory supervisor turned trailblazer, whose advocacy thrust her case of pay discrimination into a nationwide movement and conversation. Lilly took her employer, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., to court when she learned they were paying her less than her male counterparts, and her case ultimately went to the Supreme Court. Ten years after her initial complaint, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 into law, which made it easier for workers to challenge unequal pay.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with panelists, to discuss the film, Lilly’s story, and the current and historical landscape around the fight for equal pay. Confirmed panelists include: Fatima Goss Graves , president and CEO of NWLC, Marcia Greenberger , co-founder of NWLC, and who is featured in the film, Jocelyn Samuels , attorney and former commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Jyoti Sarda , founder/CEO of Nimble Media LLC and producer of Lilly .
